Statement from PGCVFRA Officers and Board of Directors:

The Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association, representing 36 volunteer fire corporations and their members, in no way condones the criminal allegations of the five former volunteer firefighters indicted earlier this week. We fully support the ongoing investigation and the West Lanham Hills Volunteer Fire Department as they work through this case.

The members of the Volunteer Fire Corporations within Prince George’s County have served our communities, in some cases for more than 100 years, and have continued to serve throughout the COVID pandemic. We ask that you will not allow the alleged and misguided actions of a few mar the outstanding and selfless work of over 1000 Volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians that are on duty every day as an integral part of the combination Volunteer/Career Fire and EMS Department of Prince George’s County.
