The Prince George's County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association's annual convention will be hosted by the Accokeek Volunteer Fire Department. The convention is being held Sunday, October 4 through Saturday, October 10, 2009. The full schedule of events follows:
Sunday, October 4 8:30 a.m. Rodeo Registration/9:00 a.m. Rodeo (Parking Lot of AVFD) 11:00 a.m. Extrication Registration/11:30 a.m. Extrication Competition 12:00 p.m. Contest Registration/1:00 p.m. Battle of the Bucket, Bucket Brigade, Tug of War, etc. Contests behind AVFD Activities Center
Monday, October 5 Open
Tuesday, October 6 Memorial Service AVFD Activities Center 6:30 p.m. Prelude/7:30 p.m. Memorial Service w/TNL Praise Christian Band Refreshments follow
Wednesday, October 7 Past Presidents Dinner Invitation Only 6:00 p.m. Cocktails - 7:00 p.m. Dinner AVFD Activities Center
Thursday, October 8 5:30 p.m. Dinner 7:00 p.m. Joint Opening Ceremony & Hall of Fame and Firefighter of the Awards Meetings (PGCVF&RA in firehouse, Auxiliary in hall)
Friday, October 9 7:30 p.m. Ladies Installation/8:00 p.m. Men's meeting BBQ ($15 per person all you can eat) 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. (BBQ Chicken/BBQ Pulled Pork/Mac 'n Cheese/Hot Dogs/Green Beans/Baked Beans/Coleslaw/Rolls/Dessert)
Saturday, October 10 7:30 a.m. Prayer Breakfast in AVFD Activities Center 8:30 a.m. Parade Registration & Apparatus Line Up (St. James Subdivision*) 8:30 a.m. Marching Units Registration (Accokeek First Church of God**) 10:00 a.m. Parade 1 hour after parade, Competitions will begin 6:00 p.m. PGCVF&RA 3rd meeting in firehouse Parade awards follow 8:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. Dance w/The Plowboys at AVFD Activities Center
*Directions for St. James Subdivision--Take 495 to Rt 210 South. Make left on Farmington Road. At stop sign, make left onto Livingston Road. Proceed one block and make a left onto St. James Road.
