We have recently received several questions regarding opportunities in the fire service for young men and women under the age of 18 that do not live in school districts with PGFD Cadet Programs.....

Most of our member Volunteer Fire Departments accept young men and women at 16 years of age as Junior Members. Junior Members can work to complete their training as Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians, participate in station drills & activities, and respond on calls once qualified.

Junior Members may not enter burning structures, or operate as primary care providers on EMS units.
Once the age of 18 is reached, Junior Members in good standing may convert to full Fire and EMS providers.

Information about our Member Companies is available www.pgvolunteers.org
